The Supreme Court of the united states
In the SCOTUS committee at EmpireMUNC XII, delegates will be representing Supreme Court Justices from past to present in a uniquely shaped crisis committee. Each session will provide delegates the opportunity to debate landmark cases in the nation’s history while balancing the complex interests of the Justice they have embodied.
As real Justices, delegates will be working with precedent and other constitutional interpretations to pass directive-style decisions, with opinions and dissents. With the law being a fluid and malleable subject, delegates will need to work around the individual concerns of Justices with the larger societal, political, and economic factors shaping the country as they decide their cases.

The Pentagon papers leak: Nixon’s Scandal
"There is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.” - Luke 8:17
For years, the machinery of power turned behind closed doors, held together by the careful management of "truth." But on June 12th, 1971, the Pentagon Papers exploded on the front page of the New York Times, unveiling the previously classified intentions of the US in the Vietnam War.
The Nixon administration is suddenly under siege – by the censure of its citizens, the scrutiny of global eyes, particularly the wavering favor of China and North Vietnam. As the fallout spreads, all delegates, the top echelons of Washington, must convene in the halls of power to weigh the ramifications of the leaks and direct both internal security and foreign policy. Act swiftly, be it to contain or confront the truth.

The Indian Succession:
Ponniyin Selvan
An aging ruler, an empire in unrest, and a secret successor…an epic as old as time unfolds in the maritime Chola Empire of 10th century southern India. In a Succession-esque committee inspired by the historical fiction film Ponniyin Selvan, delegates will navigate both the Indian Ocean – in search of alliances, trade, and potential uprisings – and the intricate political web of the Chola dynasty, its throne teetering on the edge of power.
But the intrigue reaches far beyond the royal bloodline: There is a place for every figure in the palace, whether they are scheming women, undercover spies, or an unassuming orphan. With a watchful eye over the constant threat of Pandya assassins and rampant class-based discrimination, the seas are raging and the throne remains unclaimed. Who will seize destiny in their hands?

Wedding Planning: The perfect disaster
Vows & Vision was once the gold standard of wedding planning. Founded by Virginia Jones in 1972, the once prestigious company is now hanging on by a thread. The company was a one-stop shop for all dream weddings, with every service imaginable. But after years of scandals, from its CEO’s divorce to a runaway bride incident that made headlines, its rival Tie the Knot seems to be overtaking them as the top wedding planner. On top of all this, post-COVID inflation has hit the company hard. The two final weddings standing between the company and divorce aren’t painting a picture of success for Vow & Vision. With one in a hurricane-ravaged Flordia, and the other in Iceland’s unpredictable climate, even the world seems to be against you. Delegates must salvage the company’s budget, rebuild public trust, outmaneuver corporate sabotage, and satisfy their demanding clients. Their approval could make or break the company. The future of Vows & Visions depends on you.
